HTC HD3 with Windows Phone 7 rumor…

After all this doom and gloom from Redmond, I don’t know about you but I need a Windows Phone Feel Good Moment…and here comes one, right on time!

MobileMentalism managed to get a hold of some pictures and specs (from a Chinese site called PCOnline) for the HTC HD3, a Windows Phone 7 superphone that looks like it could be poised to give the current crop of Android world beaters a run for their money. Those who have been uphappy with the ever increasing size of the new batch of Androids won’t be happy with this one either, a 4.5 inch AMOLED screen…but good lord the specs for the HD3 look incredible.

As could have been expected, the writer at MobileMentalism spent a paragraph saying how much better this phone would be running Android (as nearly every blog did about the HD2) but in the end they have to admit, this phone gives us a reason to look forward to Windows Phone 7 again.

Check out a pic and translated specs after the jump. The screen shots look very fishy to me, so I am taking this with a large grain of salt until I hear something more, but WOW.

UPDATE: Word is that this is an old WP7 fake that is being retreaded by PCOnline. However, considering the current crop of Android phones, I wouldn’t be overly surprised if we see something like this running Windows Phone in 2011, especially if the OS gains some traction against Android and iOS.

HTC HD2 gets a spec boost for the US

Looks like European and Asian/Pacific HTC HD2 owners are getting the “shaft” this time around. According to the specs sheet of the T-Mobile HTC HD2 which is set to be launched in the US in a couple of weeks the device will feature 1Gb of Rom & 576Mb of Ram compared to the 512 Mb of Rom & 448 Mb of Ram on the current HD2 available now. Don’t be surprised if HTC/Microsoft claims that this newer version is the only one to be upgradable to Windows Mobile 7later this year even though the “Original” meets the WM7 Chassis 1 specs…

Microsoft My Phone syncs information between your mobile phone and the web...

Apparently, they've re-branded SkyBox and are bringing lots of cloud syncing fun to WinMo phones.

Microsoft My Phone syncs information on your mobile phone to a storage space on a web site hosted by Microsoft. If your phone is lost or stolen, or if you upgrade to a new phone, you can easily restore the contacts, calendar appointments, photos, and other information that you stored on My Phone to a compatible new or replacement phone.

What information can I back up on Microsoft My Phone? The first time that you run the My Phone application on your mobile phone, you will be asked to accept or change the recommended settings. Recommended settings will synchronize contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, photos, videos, text messages, music, and documents between your phone and your My Phone web account. However:

* If you have an active connection with Microsoft Exchange server (which is frequently used for corporate e-mail), My Phone will not synchronize your contacts, calendar appointments, or tasks.

* If you have Windows Live installed on your phone, it will synchronize your Windows Live contacts with the Windows Live web site, and My Phone will synchronize your other contacts to your account on the My Phone web site.

SkyBox: Microsoft's MobileMe, But for All Phones?

Basically, SkyBox syncs a phone's info to the cloud: contacts, email/SMS, calendar and pictures, plus it has automatic backup and restore. Honestly, I'm not sure how this wouldn't be for Windows Mobile phones only, unless they're rolling out apps for other smartphones, which probably have their own cloud services anyway—Android's got Google, iPhone's got MobileMe—though I guess they could try to play ball in BlackBerry land, where a lot of Windows Mobile refugees wind up. But if they did offer this for all phones, that'd be pretty excellent.

SkyLine is a small business version of SkyBox, but with Exchange. And SkyMarket we first heard about in September—it's Microsoft's version of the App Store. Looks like it'll get an unveiling with Windows Mobile 6.5. I actually like all of the "Sky" branding, but Neowin says that all of it will probably be called Windows ____ Live, which is really just too goddamn clunky, and well, makes people think of Windows and how they don't use any of the Live services.

On a positive ending note, these are some confirmed concept shots for the new WinMo menu, first dug up by Smartphone France—they look as good as any skin by HTC or the like: Hopefully the rest of the OS got that kind of polish—and speed, more speed please—and then maybe, just maybe there will be a Windows 7-like Revival for Windows Mobile. Probably not, but fingers crossed.

Analizan el HTC Touch HD, "el primer iPhone killer merecedor de tal nombre"

Poco después de que el HTC Touch HD fuera anunciado por O2 para Alemania, areamobile.de ha publicado un brillante análisis en el que se deshace en alabanzas hacia el último terminal de los taiwaneses. Concretamente, es descrito como "el primer iPhone killer merecedor de tal nombre".

Hay elogios para el buen trabajo realizado enmascarando WinMo con una bonita capa de TouchFlo 3D, y por supuesto su gran pantalla táctil no se queda atrás en la lista de positivos; otro tanto pasa con la bien valorada navegación con Opera (vídeo), mientras que Internet Explorer es puesto a caer de un burro (nada nuevo por otra parte). Su más que pasable autonomía y un miniconector estándar de 3,5 mm parece que terminan de poner la guinda a un móvil que ya está empezando a dar mucho de qué hablar.

Interfase ZUNE en Windows Mobile...

Desde hace tiempo sabemos que Microsoft no esta interesada en sacar al mercado un "ZUNE PHONE", en lugar de ello, nos hemos enterado que la música características del Zune hará su camino en Windows Mobile.

Zune se compone ahora de 2 cosas: dispositivo reproductor Zune (tiene WiFi, radio FM y el pleno apoyo de podcasting, pero sin pantalla táctil) y Zune mercado donde los usuarios pueden comprar música. Desde ahora, tanto iPhone y Google Android oferta de tiendas de música, Windows Mobile también debería de ofrecerla. Es bueno ver finalmente la información oficial acerca de Zune para Windows Mobile! Los rumores han terminado.

HTC Touch HD Destrona al iPhone !

Desde la página francesa geekinc nos llega un interesante mini-análisis del nuevo HTC Touch HD. En el artículo publican excelentes fotografías del aparato y unos comentarios muy positivos. Dicen que la pantalla 800x400 es magnífica, la cámara decente, y que la última versión de TouchFLO 3D funciona muy bien y rápidamente. Aunque ofrece muchas opciones, el tamaño es muy similar al del iPhone 3G, y hasta tiene un conector de 3,5 mm, que no es muy común en productos de HTC. Saldrá a la venta a finales de año, pero no se ha dicho nada sobre el precio.

Pronto: Internet Explorer 6 para Windows Mobiles

Según CNET, Microsoft lanzará una actualización para Internet Explorer para Windows Mobile basado en Internet Explorer 6.

Las páginas se van a parecer más como si se visualizaran en la versión de PC además que tendrá soporte FLASH.

Otra característica es la capacidad de cambiar rápidamente entre la visualización escritorio y la de móviles. Aunque una fecha exacta no se ha dado a conocer, el navegador se dice será lanzado en algún momento de este año 2008.

Sony Ericsson lanzó una ambiciosa campaña publicitaria llamada “¿Quién es Johnny X?”, compuesta de varios WebEpisodios que irán apareciendo hasta el 30 de Septiembre, fecha informada por Sony Ericsson como de lanzamiento de su mayor apuesta, el Xperia X1.

Aparentemente serán varios episodios que irán saliendo todos los lunes, miércoles y viernes a partir del 22 de septiembre, así que no falta mucho para ver la película completa, que luego estará disponible en línea en el sitio Web www.sonyericsson.com/Johnnyx.

La fusión de Acer y Eten dan como primer fruto el Acer Glofiish X610

Con un parecido más que razonable con el Nokia N95 salvando la posibilidad de deslizar el teclado numérico, la compra hace una semana justa de Eten por parte de Acer ha dado como fruto un primer dispositivo que se ajusta más a los patrones de Eten que a los últimos diseños de Acer en el terreno de los Pocket PC.

El hardware, muy justo por lo que se lleva actualmente. Procesador Samsung a 400Mhz, pantalla qVGA de 2,8 pulgadas, 64/128MB de RAM/ROM, receptor GPS, radio FM, cámara de 2MP, WiFi, Bluetooth, ranura de expansión MicroSD HC y conectividad GSM/Edge. En el apartado software, cabe destacar el sistema operativo, Windows Mobile 6.1, y SPB Mobile Shell 2.0, incluido de serie. No se conoce ni el precio final ni la fecha de salida aún.
